While at Newberry we visited Tahquamenon Falls with a drop of 48 feet. It is famed in Longfellow's poem, "The Song of Hiawatha." The gold and russet color in the water is tannic acid from the decomposition of the vegetation. It was a nice walk to the falls. We went early in the morning before it got too hot.
